PARK ADVISORY

Caesars Head Visitor Center will be undergoing renovations in the coming weeks. The Visitor Center/Store hours may vary as well as have closures during this time. When the Visitor Center is open, please prepare for sections of the visitor center to be closed off or under construction. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience.


Trails Close at 6:30 PM daily. All hikers must be off trails at this time. 


Caesars Head State Park does not take reservations for day-use parking.  All of our parking is first-come first-serve. There is NO roadside parking at Caesars Head State Park 


Hike-in Trailside campsites are available by reservation only. There is NO car-camping or RV camping at this park.


Trail Closure Warning: Cold temperatures and ice have forced the seasonal closure of the yellow-blazed, western section of the Rim of the Gap Trail (between junction 15-Frank Coggins, and 21-John Sloan). This section of trail will remain closed until spring temperatures are consistently warm enough for the ice to melt and the trail to become safely passable. If you have any questions, please contact the park directly.

Pets are allowed in most outdoor areas provided they are kept under physical restraint or on a leash not longer than six feet. Owners will be asked to remove noisy or dangerous pets or pets that threaten or harass wildlife.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any campsites at Caesars Head State Park or Jones Gap State Park?

The Mountain Bridge (includes Caesars Head and Jones Gap State Parks) has 18 hike-in, backcountry campsites that range from a .25-mile hike to a 11-mile hike.  No drive up campsites are available on the park. There is no water or electricity provided at the campsites.

How long is the hike to Raven Cliff Falls?

The Raven Cliff Falls overlook is a 4.4-mile round trip hike taking two to three hours. The suspension bridge crossing the top of Raven Cliff Falls is a seven-mile round trip hike taking four to five hours.

Are trail maps available for purchase at the park?

Hiking maps may be purchased at the Caesars Head or Jones Gap ranger stations.

Is swimming permitted at the park?

There is no swimming permitted at the park. You may wade in the Middle Saluda River located at Jones Gap.

Are there picnic areas at the park?

Picnic tables are located near the Caesars Head and Jones Gap ranger stations.

Is wi-fi available at the park?

Complimentary wi-fi is available in the Visitor Center at Caesars Head State Park.  Please see the front desk staff for the password.

Does the park have cabins for rent?

There are no cabins for rent at the park. The nearest state park cabins are located at Table Rock State Park.

Where is the park’s Ultimate Outsider stamp located?

Our Ultimate Outsider stamp is located at the front door of the ranger station/visitor center. There is an additional stamp in the visitor center at the front desk.
