Some parks also offer rustic tent sites with centralized water and no electrical hookups at a reduced rate.

Trailside camping spots are found along hiking trails in remote areas of the parks, mostly in the Upstate region. Some degree of hiking is required to access these sites. There is also no running water or restroom facilities provided with the trailside campsites.

These camping spots are located in remote areas of the parks, in areas accessible only by boat. Only Cheraw and Devils Fork state parks offer boat-in sites. These sites do not offer any water, electrical or restroom facilities.
Equestrian Camping
Equestrian camping spots are located in five of the parks, near the equestrian trail heads. The sites come water-ready.
Primitive Camping
The purpose of the primitive camping areas, restricted to large organized groups only, is to allow these groups to experience the park in a setting that lends itself to resource education and the development of an environmental ethic. These camping areas are ideal for boy scout groups or church youth groups.
