HISTORY AND INTERPRETATION

• Burial Sites and Cemeteries : The Colonel Isaac Hayne burial site is maintained by the park and is located 23 miles from the park.
  
  
• Designation : This park was built by members of the Works Progress Administration (WPA), a program similar to the Civilian Conservation Corps. The WPA did a great deal of work on National Parks throughout the United States.
  
  
• When & How PRT Acquired : Donated in 1944 by the US Government.
