Local Appreciation Day 2012
Half Price Admission to Local Residents Feb. 11-12

As a show of recognition for the support of the local community, Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site will be offering a special reduced admission price for Charleston-area residents. On Feb. 11-12, residents of Charleston, Dorchester and Berkeley counties will receive half off the admission prices into the park as well as the opportunity to participate in free and previously unoffered programs.
Saturday, Feb. 11, is Exploration and Discovery Day at the park, and guests will have the opportunity to see what life was like for the very first colonists who set foot in South Carolina. Several free programs will be given onsite throughout the weekend, and for an additional $4 per person, visitors can sign up for special behind-the-scenes tours of the Animal Forest, Legare Waring House and other areas of the park.
These unique, behind-the-scenes tours are rarely offered and are limited to only 15 people per tour. Visitors should contact Charles Towne Landing at 843-852-4200 to make reservations ahead of time if they are interested in reserving a spot for the special tours.
Admission for those eligible for the reduced price will be $3.75 for adults, $1.88 for seniors and $1.75 for children ages six to 15. To receive the discount, visitors must present a valid South Carolina driver’s license or identification card.
Charles Towne Landing is South Carolina’s settlement site, a marshy point along the Ashley River where English settlers landed in 1670. The park interprets this important era in the state’s history through living history demonstrations, a self-guided history trail, an interactive museum and an Animal Forest that houses species that roamed the Lowcountry at the time of settlement. The park is located in Charleston.
For questions or more information contact the park via email or by calling 843-852-4200.
