PARK ADVISORY

Due to recent damage caused by a Southern Pine Beetle infestation within the park, intensive forest management will be necessary over the coming weeks. Logging crews will be working from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday. What type of fishing license do you need to fish in Lake Thurmond?

Both SC and GA fishing licenses are valid for Lake Thurmond.  For more information on purchasing a SC fishing license, visit the SC Dept. of Natural Resources website.

Where may I rent a power boat or jet ski?

There are several marinas that rent boats on the lake. Some that are close by include:  Savannah Lakes Marina 864-391-3477, Trade Winds Marina 706-541-1380 and Hayes Marine 706-541-9111.

Are there any cabins available for rent at Hamilton Branch?

There are no cabins available for rent at the park.  The closest park with cabins is Hickory Knob State Resort park also located on Lake Thurmond.  Visit Hickory Knob's webpage or contact them via phone at:  864-391-2450.

What is the current level for Lake Thurmond?

Are there any hiking trails at the park?

There is an easy, 1.5-mile hiking trail on the park called the Paleo Hiking Trail.  Also, located near the park is Stevens Creek/Modoc Trail.  For more information on this trail, visit the Sumter National Forest website.

Where is the park’s Ultimate Outsider stamp located?

Our Ultimate Outsider stamp is located at our kiosk in front of the main office.
