Pets are allowed in Carolina Camper Cabins 1, 2 and 5. They are not allowed in any others. Pets are allowed in most outdoor areas provided they are kept under physical restraint or on a leash not longer than six feet. Owners will be asked to remove noisy or dangerous pets or pets that threaten or harass wildlife.

Can you swim at Lake Hartwell State Park?

Yes, swimming is allowed.  There is not a designated swimming area, or any lifeguards, so swimming is at your own risk.

Are boats available for rent at Lake Hartwell?

No, we do not rent boats or watercraft of any kind.  Harbor Light Marina right across from the park on the Georgia side does. They are located off of exit 177.

Are there hiking trails at Lake Hartwell State Park?

Yes, we have one hiking trail.  It is ¾ mile in length and takes about 25 minutes to complete.

What kind of fish are in Lake Hartwell?

Lake Hartwell is known for its striper fishing.  Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Bream, Crappie, Perch and Walleye are also found in the lake.

Is wi-fi available at the park?

Complimentary wi-fi is available at the park visitor center for park guests. The wireless service does not extend to the campground. Please see park staff for the wi-fi password.

Will my Georgia Fishing License be allowed here in SC?

Yes, GA and SC have a reciprocating license agreement for the lake as long as you are out on the water.

Are there boat ramps located in the park?

The park has two boat ramps.  One boat ramp is located in the campground and the other is located in the day use area. 

Are cooking grills available in the park?

Yes, we have grills that are located in the day-use area along with picnic tables.  The campground also has a fire ring/grill located on each campsite.  You are more than welcome to bring your own grill if you would like.

Is there a time that the park gates close?

The park gates are open 24/7, 365 days a year.  Park day use guests have to be out of the park at dark.

Where is the park’s Ultimate Outsider stamp located?

Our Ultimate Outsider stamp is located at the kiosk outside the park visitor center.
