Lee State Natural Area

FISHING

  • Fishing Information: Fishing for sunfish, redbreast, catfish and bass may be enjoyed from the banks of the Lynches River.

    A valid South Carolina fishing license is required.

    Children under 14 may fish in the Artesian Lake which has been stocked with catfish.

    Check with the park for special rules and regulations.

BOATING

  • Boating and Boat Access: Although river access is limited at the park, several boat ramps are located nearby. The closest one to the park is located 4 miles north on the Lynches River at the US Hwy. 15 bridge.

THINGS TO DO

  • Picnic Area and Shelters: Two picnic shelters are available for family or other group gatherings. Each shelter may be reserved for $25-32/day. For more information about each shelter, click here.

    If shelters are not reserved, guests may use on a first-come, first-served basis at no charge.

    Note: Rates listed do not include applicable tax and nonrefundable transaction fee.

    The picnic tables in the day-use area are first-come, first-serve. We also have picnic tables for use around the Artesian Lake and along the Lynches River at Mulberry Island.

EQUESTRIAN FACILITIES

  • Equestrian Camping: Twenty-three sites with water and electricity are designated for equestrian campers. In addition, a primitive equestrian camping area is located near the stable.

  • Equestrian Stable: The equestrian group area, located adjacent to the show ring and stables, is available for horse clubs and other equestrian groups.

    This area may be rented for $300/night and includes the show ring, stables and an open space which can accommodate up to 50 horse trailers.

    When this area is not reserved, stalls are available near the show ring for $7.50/night.

  • Equestrian Trail: Lee offers seven-miles of equestrain trails. Equestrians are also allowed to ride on the Loop Road which is open to vehicular traffic.Trail Information and Map.

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

  • Education Center: The Environmental Education Center includes a wetland ecology lab and exhibit gallery designed to increase visitor awareness and understanding of the environment. The center also contains the park headquarters.
