Defend the Colony, Join the Charles Towne Militia
Present.....Fire.....The Charles Towne Militia was very important in protecting the early  settlement. Now it is YOUR turn. You will meet with one of our real-life historians who will demonstrate the firing of a 17th century musket. YOU will then pretend you are a colonist and practice a musket or cannon drill. The colony's powder supplies are low and it takes a long time to get them from England, so we will not actually fire black powder for your drills. Sorry kids!

Make Your Own Native American Clay Pot
The Kiawah Indians left behind evidence of their culture for archaeologists to find. This helps us learn more about their way of life. Make your very own Native American clay pot in the style of the Kiawahs, and take your finished pot home. Best suited for ages 7-12.
The Wild Side
Behind the Scenes of the Animal Forest
Take a special tour behind the scenes of the Charles Towne Landing Animal Forest to see  what our zookeepers do to care for the animals. We’ll start with a visit to the Animal Forest kitchen where you will see what our animals eat and how we prepare their food. While we’re there, you will be able to help make enrichment items that keep our animals busy and healthy. Next, you will get to see the animals, up close and personal, eat the enrichment items you just made!
When you make the reservation, please specify which animal you would like to make enrichment items for, either black bears, pumas or otters.

Train the Animals
One of the zookeepers will meet your group and explain how and why we train the animals in the Charles Towne Landing Animal Forest. You will then become some of the animals and play the "Training Game" to earn some "treats"! After we train, you'll head off to the Animal Forest and see a real live training session with the otters or bears -- your choice! (please specify when making your reservation)

Please call at least one week in advance to schedule your party. No food or decorations are provided, but you are welcome to bring these items with you into the park. Picnic area rentals are from 9am to 5pm. Please contact the park at 843-852-4200 for reservations and additional information.
