Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site
Walk in the footsteps of the original colonists on a tour of Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site. Learn how English colonists, Barbadians, Enslaved Africans, and Native Americans all had a role in "Creating Carolina."
Experiences Available
Charles Towne Landing SHS has a variety of experiences available for organizational groups (school groups please go to school group page). The museum and outdoor exhibits tell the story of the foundational years at Charles Towne. In addition to these core experiences, your visit can include guided programs as well as self-guided experiences.
Charles Towne Experiences
These ranger-guided adult programs can be scheduled Wednesday-Friday at 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Through a variety of program offerings including costumed demonstrations, ranger walks, PowerPoint presentations and more, park rangers will delve into the many fascinating aspects of the foundational years of Charles Towne.
Program topics and activities will vary and may change due to weather.
Each program is limited to 50 adult participants. If your group has more than 50 adults, you will need to schedule for more than one of the above program times. $8 per person. Price includes admission to the park.
Self-guided Packages
Enjoy Charles Towne Landing SHS at your own pace. Stroll through the museum, play the “digital dig,’ and take a leisurely walk along the History Trail as you visit our outdoor exhibits.
Echoes of the Past
The 22-stop audio tour will give you access to historians and archaeologists through interviews and commentaries, and sound effects help bring outdoor exhibits alive!
Only 50 audio tour players are available at a time. $8 per person. Price includes admission to the park.
Weekend programs and Special Events
Groups are welcome to attend all programs on weekends as space permits. Some programs have limited availability. Participants are welcome on a first-come, first-served basis.
