Poinsett State Park
Ranger Rhetoric

Temperatures are beginning to slowly drop which means we are leaving summer behind and moving on to the primetime outdoor weather of the fall season. Its a great time to pack your tents and campers and head on down to Poinsett for some of the most wonderful camping opportunities in mid-state South Carolina.
Fall color viewing for Poinsett will be mid-October through mid-November and can be viewed from our overlook shelter, giving you a mountainous feel right in the center of the state.
Come visit South Carolina’s hidden beauty of the Sandhills Region as you meander through different landscapes on our nine miles of trails. Come enjoy viewing the stars at night in our quiet campground, or enjoy a cozy fire in the fireplace of our historical cabins built by the Civilian Conservation Corps 75 years ago.
We have lots to offer visitors and are only a short trip away from home. The air is clean, the weather is cooling off, and we look forward to seeing you soon in this peaceful neck of the woods.
