Pets are allowed in most outdoor areas provided they are kept under physical restraint or on a leash not longer than six feet.

There is also a dog park available at Sesquicentennial State Park. The dog park is a 2-acre, fenced-in area for dogs to run off-leash.

To access the off-leash dog park, a permit is required for each dog, available at the park office. Permits are $25/year, and are pro-rated depending on the date of purchase. Permits expire on July 1 of each year. Daily permits are available for $4.

Important Notice! Dog must be present for photo identification to obtain dog park permit. Owners must provide current vaccination records showing proof of spayed/neutered, rabies, parvo and kennel cough. Dog permits do not include admission into the park.

Frequently Asked Questions

If we reserve a picnic shelter, what hours are we permitted to use it?

When you reserve a picnic shelter it is yours for the entire day, which is during park operational hours from 8 a.m. to sunset daily. Contact the park for specific closing times. 

Which picnic shelters at Sesquicentennial State Park have power?

Shelters 1 and 2 have power outlets.  Shelter 5 does not have power.

How do we pay when there is no one in the Welcome Station?

Self-pay envelopes are available at the Welcome Station.  Place your money in the envelope, tear off the hang tag and hang in your rear-view mirror, deposit the envelope in the designated slot on the Welcome Station.

If we’re camping, how do we get in and out of the park after it closes and the gate locks?

All registered campers are given a gate code to enter or exit the park after hours. Contact the park to get the code if you will be a late arrival. 

What is the maximum number of nights we can camp?

The campground is designated for short-term recreational use only and the maximum length of stay is 14 nights.

Do you have full-service hook-ups on your campsites?

Sites 2-9 are full service sites with sewer, 20/30/50 amp electric and water. 

Do you allow swimming in the lake?

There is no swimming or wading allowed in the lake.

What do I need to register my dog for the dog park?

The dog owner must be present to purchase a permit for a dog.  A record of current vaccinations is required showing proof of rabies, Parvo and Kennel cough (Bordetella) as well as written proof the dog has been spayed or neutered.  The dog also must be present for a photograph.

If I am visiting Sesquicentennial can I bring my own boat?

Yes, private boats are allowed on the lake year round but must be off the water by 1 hour prior to the park closing.  No gasoline motors allowed.  A boat ramp is not available, boats must be carried to water front.  There is no vehicle access to the water front.

What is the cost of your rental boats?

Boats available for rent include 4-person pedal boats, 2-person and 3-person canoes, single-person and 2-person kayaks, aluminum john boats and stand up paddleboards.  All boats rent for $5/hr. or $25/day with the exception of the stand up paddleboards and 4-person pedal boats which are $10/hr. only, no day rentals. Life jackets and paddles are provided.  A valid driver’s license is required and someone must be 16 years or older on each boat.  Boats are available seasonally and must be off the water by 5 p.m.  *Hours and availability are subject to change.

Where is the park’s Ultimate Outsider stamp located?

Our Ultimate Outsider stamp is located just outside the entrance to the park office.
