The Legare-Waring House, at Charles Towne Landing
Every bride wants a memorable and romantic wedding, and one of the best places to have that wedding is at the Legare-Waring House at Charles Towne Landing. The two-story historic home sits amid an expansive garden of camellias, azaleas and Spanish moss-draped old oaks deep inside one of the most significant historic sites in the state.
What makes the house appealing is that it is located in a state park that preserves and protects South Carolina’s settlement site. A wide avenue of oaks leads up to the mansion, and is often lined by guests who are witnessing an exchange of vows at the avenue’s end.
For more information on reserving the Legare-Waring House call (843) 805-3063 or (843) 805-3084 or email info@legarewaringhouse.com.
The Atalaya Castle, at Huntington Beach State Park
Atalaya, a National Historic Landmark, stands as monument to the creativity and generosity of Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington. A noted scholar of Spanish culture and art, Archer Huntington modeled the couple’s winter home in the style of the Moorish architecture of the Spanish Mediterranean coast. The castle served as an art studio for his wife Anna who was a world-reknowned sculptress.
The castle still stands along the seashore today serving as a beautiful and romantic backdrop for weddings. The palmetto tree-lined courtyards within the castle make an excellent location for the ceremony on one-side followed by the reception on the other.
For more information on Atalaya and holding your wedding there, contact Huntington Beach State Park at (843) 237-4440.
The Lodge, at Table Rock State Park
One of the treasures of the South Carolina State Parks Service is the Lodge at Table Rock State Park. This newly restored landmark is one of the best examples of Civilian Conservation Corps craftsmanship in the state.
The lodge consists of two floors. The top floor with 2 large stone fireplaces makes an excellent gathering point for a wedding ceremony. The large porch overlooks the lake and peak of picturesque Table Rock. The bottom floor is arranged as a traditional reception hall with a large caterer's warming kitchen, perfect for the reception after the wedding.
If you prefer to marry in your own church or special location, opt to have your reception at the Table Rock Lodge. It is sure to accommodate your every need.
