Pets are not allowed in the cabins or the cabin areas. Pets are allowed in most other outdoor areas provided they are kept under physical restraint or on a leash not longer than six feet. Owners will be asked to remove noisy or dangerous pets or pets that threaten or harass wildlife.

Things To Do

  • Fishing Information: Enjoy fishing in the Edisto River for flathead, catfish, red breast, channel catfish, largemouth bass, striped bass, shellcrackers, blue catfish and eels.

    A valid South Carolina fishing license is required.

  • Tackle Loaner Program: This park participates in the Tackle Loaner Program sponsored by the SC Dept. of Natural Resources. Rods and reels are available for loan at the River House.

  • Fishing: Yes
  • Freshwater Fishing: Yes
  • Boating and Boat Access: Access on the Edisto River is available at a drop off area.

    A boat ramp is located three miles from the park.

    The Edisto River Canoe and Kayak trail between Colleton and Givhans Ferry is 23 miles by river and 15 miles by highway. Seven to nine hours paddling time is required for the full distance depending on current.

  • Paddling: Yes
  • Wireless Internet Access: Complimentary Wi-Fi is available at the River House.
  • Park Store/Gift Shop: A large selection of retail items are available at the River House. Including souvenirs, firewood, snacks and more!

  • Playground Equipment: Yes
  • Picnic Shelters: Yes
  • Playground: The playground is located across from the Community Building.

  • Swimming: Swimming is permitted in the Edisto River. There is no designated swimming area and all swimming is at your own risk. Loaner life jackets are available at the River House.

  • Bird Watching: Bird watching is a popular activity at the park. Numerous species can be spotted along the trails and river.

  • Geocaching: Geocaching is permitted. Several geocaches are located on the park. For more information visit the official geocaching website.

  • Biking: Yes
  • Birding: Yes
  • Other Facilities and Activities: The park also has playfields, a book exchange, and games are available for check out at the River House.

  • Walking/Nature Trails: The River Bluff Nature Trail is a moderate 1.5 miles. Explore the low country forest with a scenic river vista.
